Our Artist - Polina Sheverdyakova
When we came up with the idea of our Red, Rocket and Myrtle characters, we needed someone to help us bring them alive. We briefed a few artists and got some initial concept drawings from them. Polina's drawings immediately had a style and charm we all liked.
We've been working with Polina all year to bring you Red, Rocket, Myrtle and all their other friends as they are today. Polina is a young artist currently studying for a degree at Central Saint Martin's College. We think she's done a great job and are looking forward to future projects with her and watching her develop and grow as an artist and designer.
Polina is a real individual, here's how she describes herself...
- My name is Polina Sheverdyakova. I am a 20 year old graphic designer and illustrator. At the moment I am doing my degree in Graphic Design at Central Saint Martin's College while also working on various freelance projects. I am a bright, inspired individual full of new and original ideas. I enjoy creating funny, engaging stories, especially focusing on the characters.
- I think my head is like a magic box, it's bigger on the inside. There is a whole world there, a world where amazing and weird creatures live. Some of them are huge and some of them are tiny. Some of them are friendly and some of them frightful. All of them want to get free. So when I pick up my pencil and start drawing they escape their prison and start living lives of their own, on paper, cardboard, or canvas.
- I love what I do and I try to bring as much of that love as possible to my drawings.
